Summer Retreats
May 2012 12
SUMMER THEME:
In many ways we view a “retreat” as the process of ceding victory to a pressing enemy. However, retreating for a period of time to rest and re-energize can serve an important function for the weary soldier. As long as the intended purpose is to return to the frontline to re-engage the enemy, taking a break from the battle can prove to be a strategic maneuver. Most students coming off the long school year find themselves tired and burned out physically, mentally, and spiritually. The toll of balancing school, family, and church life can leave a student weary and vulnerable to attack. This is why we place our retreat at the beginning of the summer. Our desire is to provide a safe place where a student can retreat for a period of rest and relaxation, with an emphasis on spiritual nourishment. We pray that you will make this week at the beach a priority for your student.

Located at Laguna Beach Christian Camp, Panama City Beach, FL.

Youth Ministry: Calendar
May 2012 11

Schedule of Upcoming Events:
May 13 – AX281 [6-8 PM]: The Strand & LINK
May 20 – Not Meeting Due to Finals
May 27 – AX281 [6-8 PM]: The Strand & LINK

AX281 is what we call our Sunday Night youth ministry. In Acts 28:1 God provided Paul a place of refuge in the midst of his storm. Our desire is to provide this same kind of weekly refuge for our middle school and high school students. The night begins with a combination worship service before the kids are separated out for their respective youth programs. Both our middle school program (LINK) and our high school ministry (The Strand) focus on relevant Bible teaching and small group discussions.
